The Editorial Board of the Korean Journal of Japanese Studies (KJJS) has selected “The Anthropocene and Ecologism in Japan” (tentative title; Editor: SHIN Ha-kyung, Sookmyung Women’s University) as the special theme for Volume 34.
To further advance ongoing research on the concept of the Anthropocene and related ecological approaches, the symposium will examine how discussions on the Anthropocene and ecological thought have evolved in Japan, particularly in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The four papers presented at the symposium will be published in Volume 34 of the KJJS, scheduled for release in February 2026.
