"Graduate Student Japan Field Research"  Program

The "Graduate Student Japan Field Research" program aims to provide graduate students specializing in Japanese studies with opportunities to conduct research, collect materials, and understand current research trends in Japan, thereby contributing to the long-term advancement and development of Japanese studies in Korea.

Number of Participants: 6

Eligibility:

Graduate students (Master’s or Ph.D.) at Seoul National University preparing theses or dissertations on Japan-related topics and/or Korea-Japan relationship 

• Open to all nationalities, including students who have completed coursework ; Preference will be given to applicants who have submitted their thesis/dissertation proposal to their department

*Applicants must be able to conduct research in Japanese or English

*The following cases are not eligible for application:

1)Individuals intending to acquire Japanese language skills or enroll in regular degree programs in Japan

2)Individuals who have received support from a similar program in Korea within the last three years

Research Period:

January 2025 – March 2025 (Minimum 7-day stay in Japan required)

Support Provided:

KRW 1.6 million per person (for airfare and living expenses)
