Background of the Lecturer
Assistant Professor in Sophia University. Her research interests lie in the fields of cultural studies, film and popular media, postcolonial nationalism, biopolitics and surveillance. She obtained B.A. and M.A. from the University of Texas Austin, and Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo. Recent publications include Contents Transformation in East Asia: Popular Culture, Media and Identity, 2013, Tokyo: Seikyusha (co-edited with Takeshi Tanikawa et al.), and articles, such as “Hyperbolic Nationalism: South Korea’s Shadow Animation Industry” and “Japan Studies and Anime Research: The Structure of Self-Reflexivity.”
