On April 18, 2025, the 9th Hakbong Award on Media Reports’ Awardee Lecture was held at the Kwanhun Club Hall in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The Korea Times’ feature series "Korea and Japan, Confronting and Facing Each Other" received the Grand Prize, while Daisuke Kinoshita, a journalist in the international department of the Chunichi Shinbun / Tokyo Shinbun, was awarded the Excellence Prize. Each awardee delivered a presentation at the lecture discussing the content and intent of their award-winning articles, as well as their perspectives on the direction of Korea-Japan relations under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
The Korea Times journalists presented on their series, which analyzed key issues in Korea-Japan relations across the fields of culture, industry, society, and diplomacy, while Daisuke Kinoshita, gave presentation on his article tracing the life of a conscripted member of a special military unit, published as part of the Tokyo Shinbun’s “80 Years After the War” series.
