On November 19, 2025, the 6th Korea–Japan Future Seminar was held in a hybrid format at the GS Room (Room 201), Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University, with additional participation via Zoom. The event was co-hosted by the Institute of Disaster Area Revitalization, Regrowth and Governance at Kwansei Gakuin University and the Institute for Japanese Studies at Seoul National University, drawing an audience of approximately twenty on-site and ten online participants.

MIZOGUCHI Masaru (Project Professor, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo) delivered a lecture titled “Reflecting on Recovery from the Nuclear Disaster: The Case of Iitate Village, Fukushima Prefecture.” He discussed his long-term engagement with Iitate Village since the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, highlighting the transformation of his scientific expertise in agronomy into technologies for detecting and removing radioactive contamination. He also emphasized the role of smart agriculture, combining agricultural science with digital technologies, as a key strategy for sustainable community revitalization.

Following the presentation, YAMA Yoshiyuki (Director, Institute of Disaster Area Revitalization, Regrowth and Governance) offered comments underscoring the importance of applying diverse disciplinary expertise to disaster recovery. A Q&A session then addressed topics such as the scalability of decontamination methods, the future of Iitate Village, and policy measures to encourage residents to return. The seminar concluded with active participation and constructive discussion.
