Discussion
As part of the 20th Humanities Week organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea, a book-talk event titled "Korea–Japan Cultural Exchange through Books" was held to commemorate the first anniversary of the completion of the Japanese translation of novelist Park Kyung-ni’s 『Land』 (Toji). The event took place at the Kwanhun Club in Insadong, Seoul, and drew around thirty pre-registered participants.
SHIMIZU Chisako, one of the co-translators of 『Land』, delivered a forty-minute lecture discussing what led her to undertake the translation, memorable episodes from the translation process, and examples of cultural exchange between Korean and Japanese readers following the book's publication.
A twenty-minute discussion followed, featuring novelist LEE Jin as a commentator, who posed questions aimed at deepening the understanding of 『Land』 and exploring aspects of its translation.
Afterward, a Q&A session was held based on questions submitted in advance by participants, along with additional questions and reflections from the audience. The two-hour event concluded on a warm and engaging note.
