Summary
The 2nd meeting of the "2014 Open Intellectual Dialogue between Korea and Japan" was held in Tokyo. This meeting, like the Seoul meeting in October 2014, invited Korea-Japan relations professionals as well as intellectuals in the international relations, economics, education,media, and other various fields from Korea and Japan, to discuss and seek the direction of future Korea-Japan relationship. In the first session, participants reviewed Korea-Japan relations the second Abe Cabinet's foreign and security policy, and agreed that for diplomatic and security cooperation in East Asia in the global dimension, Korea and Japan must recognize North Korea's threat, and that Korea and Japan must accurately analyze and evaluate each others defense capability, and have practical and shared understanding of Chinese expansionism. The second session recalled the success stories of Korean and Japanese industrial cooperations and explored possibilities of future cooperation, and in the third session participants discussed in detail about educational cooperation. In the fourth session in particular, we invited five Keio University students to share their experience with Korean students and discussed the future Korea Korea-Japan relations and communication from students' perspective.
