Discussion
On April 18, 2024, the 41st Japan Diagnosis Seminar was held in a hybrid format at the GL Room of the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University. In this seminar, Yama Yoshiyuki, Director of the Research Institute for Disaster Recovery and Governance at Kwansei Gakuin University, delivered a presentation titled "Challenges of Disaster Response and Recovery in Aging and Depopulated Areas: Reflections from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Site."

On January 1, 2024, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the Noto Peninsula. Immediately after the quake, Director Yama Yoshiyuki, along with documentary filmmaker Lee Hong-ki, visited the disaster site to capture footage of the affected area. During the presentation, which also served as a video screening, Director Yama Yoshiyuki highlighted the dual disasters faced by areas already suffering from depopulation, emphasizing the theme of "revitalization of local culture" as a goal for recovery that preserves the region's identity.
