Institute for Japanese Studies at Seoul National University is conducting research as part of the Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) support project selected by the National Research Foundation of Korea for 2019. In accordance with the project guidelines, we invite applications for HK research professors.
Overview of the HK+ Research Project
The project is titled "Exploring the Everyday World of Japan in the Post-Regional Studies Era – Maturity and Transformation, Crisis and Solidarity," and it will be conducted over seven years (from September 2019 to August 2026).
Field and Number of Recruitment:
Economics/Management of Japan, Economic History / 1 position
Appointment Start Date: Scheduled for February 1, 2025
Appointment Conditions:
The appointment period is from the date of appointment until August 31, 2026.
The professor must publish 200% of articles in Korean or foreign languages (KCI level or higher) annually after appointment.
The professor must work full-time at the institute and engage in various research activities.
Salary: 36 million KRW + four major insurance policies and other incentives.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in the relevant field.
Must have confirmed publications amounting to 200% or more within three years of the application deadline (dissertation submissions within this period will be counted as 100%).
Must be suitable for the agenda of the HK research project of this institute.
Preference will be given to those with experience in research project execution or empirical research capabilities.
Applicants must comply with the appointment regulations of Seoul National University.

Application Period: From November 7, 2024 (Thursday) to November 20, 2024 (Wednesday).

2nd Stage: Interview Screening
Evaluation Criteria:
The evaluation will consider the alignment with the research agenda, recent research outcomes, and research plans.
Required Documents:
(a) Application Form (to be completed online)
(b) Degree certificates and transcripts (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate) – 1 copy each
(c) Employment certificates (clearly stating employment periods and positions) – 1 copy each
(d) Research achievements totaling between 200 to 300 points
(e) Personal statement and research plan (free format)
Note: The "final submission" button must be clicked at the final stage after completing the application.
Result Announcement: Individual notifications will be sent after the evaluation.
Other:
According to Article 4-3 of the Education Public Service Appointment Regulations and other appointment-related regulations, if there are no qualified candidates among the applicants, the appointment may not take place, and the appointment date may be adjusted.
If the submitted documents are found to be untrue, selection may be canceled.
If there are any issues with eligibility or research performance after the appointment, the appointment may be revoked.
Submitted documents will not be returned.
