SNU Institute for Japanese Studies (IJS) is a specialized research institute, established in 2004 to vitalize Japanese studies and to foster mutual understanding between Korea and Japan. The institute has put its effort to cultivate next-generation Japanese studies experts for about last ten years. As a part of such effort, the institute is running a program, "Junior Fellow," for undergraduate students in the SNU starting from 2013. This program selects undergraduate studens who are interested in Japan as junior fellows and aims to enhance their interests by providing diverse opportunities to participate in the events hosted by IJS, including academic conferences, exchange programs, as well as educational seminars. Moreover, students who completed Junior Fellows program will be awarded a certificate at the end of the year, and the best student among them will have a chance to visit Japan. Please keep your interest in this program.
(1) Applicant: SNU Undergradute Students (enrolled students only)
(2) Number of People: around twenty people
(3) Program Period: 1 Year (Mar. 2017 ~ Feb. 2018)
(4) The Contents of Junior Fellow Program
- Special lecture for junior fellow students: <Living World Research Inquiry>, twice a month
- All activities hosted by the IJS
- Group activity and presentation
- Consulting on research related to Japanese studies
- Exchange opportunity with Japanese students
- Certificate of Completion for the junior fellow program
- Reward to the top five students based on their activities of a year (\1,000,000 for each person)

- Essay: free format / within 2 pages / reason for the application and interested area in Japanese studies
- If needed, interview will be conducted
