Recruiting Applicants for the “Field Research Support Program for Graduate Students in Japanese Studies”
“Field Research Support Program for Graduate Students in Japanese Studies” aims to provide opportunity for graduate students in Japanese area studies to conduct field research and to understand recent academic trends, so that they may contribute to the development of Japanese studies in Korea in the long run.
Program Summary:
- Number of Students: 6
- Research Period: July, 2016 ~ August, 2016
* Students must reside in Japan more than two weeks.
- Research Grant: \2,000,000 per student (airfare and expense)
- Requirement: Successful candidates will submit a final report of their field research in either English or Japanese by February, 2017 and will present their reports at a briefing session in following March.
Eligibility:
- Candidates: Master's or Ph.D candidates who are writing their thesis related to Japan (including course completed students)
* Students who submitted their thesis proposals will be prioritized.
- Major or Concentration Field: Research related to Japan or Japan-Korea relations
- Language: Students who can conduct their research in either Japanese or English.
- NOTICE: students with following conditions are not eligible for the program.
(1) Students who aim to learn Japanese language or to enroll particular degree programs in Japan.
(2) Students who had received similar research grant within three years.

1. Document Submission: May 31, 2016 (Tues.) 17:00

2. Screeing Process: mid-June, 2016
- 1st Round: Document screening
- 2nd Round: Interview (for those who passed the 1st round)
- Screening Critera:
(1) Necessity of field work
(2) Specificity of research (e.g. detailed plan)
(3) Practicality of research (e.g. language ability)
(4) Quality of research plan
3. Final Notification: late-June, 2016
- Candidates will receive individual notification.
Note:
- Incomplete applications for the lack of information or of attached documents will be disqualified from the application process without personal notifications.
- Applications that arrive after the deadline will not be considered in the screening process.
- Submitted applications and documents will not be returned.
